according to B&L notes, died 8/25/1904 in Richfiled when he was about to retire. But gravestone in Berlin Heights says "1929" for both Rev. George and wife Annie (b.1842). Perhaps stone was dated incorrectly after Annie's death? Or perhaps B&L finding of GH in Berlin Heights was incorrect, and he is really buried in Richfield as the Congregational Church says. |

From the Minutes of Congregational Churchs (note burial conflicts with Berlin Ohio see other notes). George Hill, born in Sirhowry, South I/Vales, August 9, I842, entered early the school of hardship, serving from nine to seventeen in the coal mines, but meanwhile studying at night. After two years in school in Wales, and two more in VVyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pennsylvania, preaching while studying, he entered upon the work of the ministry. He was ordained June II, 1872, was pastor at Nanticoke, Pa., of the church which he organized, and whose building he helped with his own hands to erect. from 1874 to 1877. At Drifton, Pa., where he was pastor three years, he received on one Sunday 46 members. In 1879 he became pastor at Big Rock, Ill., and in 1883 at Oswego. Then came seven happy years of quiet and steady work at Ebensburg, Pa., where he successfully accomplished the difiicult work of converting a VVclsh into an English church. and began changes in buildings which were completed later. After a year at Morenci, Mich._. came three Ohio pastorates of four years each, at Berlin Hights, Sullivan and Richfield.
After a surgical operation from which he never rallied, he died August 25, 1904, and was buried from the church which he loved and which honored him, in the cemetery at Richfield, which he had done much to beautify and improve.
Modest, cordial, cheerful, brotherly; a good preacher, always apt and ready; a model husband and father, companion to his five boys and two girls, all of whom, with the wife, were gathered for the last service; he served his generation by the will of God.
